To restart the Market App:

- Press the Menu key.
- Touch Settings.
- Select Applications.
- Select Manage Applications.
- Select the Market App (Usually it's under the All tab).
- Clear the Cache and clear the Data.
- Force close the app.

What's the difference between the Tecarta NIV Addon and the NIV Bible App?
The Addon will not create a separate App in your program group. It merely downloads the bible data into your library. The Bible App is a bible reader plus the bible data. If you already have a bible reader and want to have more translations, we recommend buying the Addon since it does not clutter your device with too many app icons.
To buy an Addon:
- Start the Market App.
- Search for 'tecarta'.
- Buy products with 'Addon' as part of the product name.
Bought an Addon. Where is the Addon on my device?
Addons do not exist as separate applications. The bible data is added to your existing library and is accessed through your current Tecarta Bible App.
To locate your new add-on:
- Start your Tecarta Bible app.
- Press the Menu soft key.
- Select Library.
- Select the Local Bibles tab.
Can't Access My Bible
The SD Card may be unmounted. Local Bibles are stored on the SD Card.
To check the SD Card:
- Press the Home soft key.
- Press the Menu soft key.
- Touch Settings.
- Select SD Card and Phone Storage.
- Check if the SD Card is mounted and has available memory. If it is not, select Mount SD Card.
- Try the Bible App now.
Need to Reinstall the app. Can I do it without being charged again?
Yes, Google Checkout will remember your previous purchase and allow you to download without further charges. Just be sure to use the same Google account as you used when you made the purchase.
How do I backup my Notes, Highlights, and other data?
If you already received the Version 2.3.5 update, it will move the location of user generated data from the primary memory over to the SD Card. On the SD Card, your notes, etc. will be in a file called userdata.sqlite under the Tecarta subdirectory. Just copy that file to backup your data. That file will persist even through uninstalls and reinstalls until you manually delete it.
How do I make it talk?
First of all, check your media volume. It may be that the READ function is working but your volume is too low to hear it.
To read selected verses:
- Start the app.
- Select some verses by touching them.
- Touch the plus symbol on the toolbar.
- Touch Read.
To read a whole chapter:
- Start the app.
- Press the Menu soft key.
- Touch Read.
Where do I get the Text-to-Speech data?
The Read function uses the Text-to-Speech (TTS) capabilities of your device. It requires that the Text-to-Speech Data files to be installed.
To check if TTS is installed:
- Press the Home key.
- Press the Menu key.
- Touch Settings.
- Select Voice Input and Output.
- Select Text-to-Speech Settings.
- If the data is not installed, install the data.
From here you can also change the preferred voice. The default language in the App is Female UK English. You can change that from here. Just be sure to check the 'Always use my settings' box after selecting your new preferences.
You can also download or buy third party text-to-speech voice data from the Android Market to change the voice.
Force Close Issues
Some devices are not able to properly handle text-to-speech intents. Please see above on how to install the text-to-speech data.
Also, make sure you have the latest updates:
- Start the Market App.
- Press the Menu key.
- Touch Downloads or My apps.
- Select the Tecarta Bible App.
- Update if necessary.
If problem persists, be sure to press 'Report' on the force close dialog. Contact tecarta at androidsupport@tecarta.com.
Why is it running in the background? Isn't this wasting resources?
Use the back key to tell the Bible App to finish. If you press the home key, it places the app in the background. However, even if you exit the app, the app may still stay in the background. Why?
The short answer is this is how all Android Apps work. The Android OS actually controls the life cycle of all applications. Here is a link to a video that explains Android's memory management. So don't worry if our app is still in the background, that's normal for all apps.
